The EduDent Academy was founded to meet the educational needs of dentists, hygienists and therapists who are looking to enhance their existing knowledge base and also learn new skills to broaden their scope of practice.

EduDent was formed by 3 Specialist Periodontists, Dr Hiten Halai, Dr Azim Malik and Dr Pano Kaimakamis with a mission to provide a series of 2–3 day masterclasses which aim to make advanced dental skills more accessible to all dental professionals, without having to commit to lengthy postgraduate courses.

The Academy’s philosophy is to promote predictable, evidence based and contemporary skills delivered by specialists and experts within the sub–fields of Dentistry in a way that is approachable, convenient, and cost–effective for all dental professionals

Dr Azim Malik

Specialist Periodontist & Implant Surgeon

“I graduated from the University of Birmingham School of Dentistry. Following graduation I worked in Oral & Maxillofacial surgery and in practice as a general dental practitioner for 4 years. I completed by specialist training & clinical doctorate in Periodontology at Barts & The London School of Medicine and Dentistry.

My practice is limited to periodontics and implant dentistry. I am a member of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and the British Society of Periodontology. Most of my time is spent in private practice in London and home counties where I accept referrals for periodontics and Implants. Currently I also work part time at Birmingham Dental Hospital as a Speciality Dentist. I have a passion for teaching and mentoring and I am a Honorary Clinical Lecturer at the University of Birmingham.

Outside of dentistry, I am a keen cyclist, runner and cook!”

Dr Panayiotis (Pano) Kaimakamis

“I completed my BDS at Kings College London and Doctorate of Clinical Periodontology at Queen Mary, University of London and am a GDC registered specialist in Periodontics. I have extensive hospital experience, having held senior house officer posts in oral and maxillofacial surgery departments before embarking on specialisation. Throughout my hospital and postgraduate studies, I have been involved in supervising dental undergraduates and hygiene therapists.

Besides working within the field of periodontology in private practice in London and Berkshire, I am currently involved in ongoing periodontal research studies and trials at Queen Mary University. As a clinical research fellow at the Centre for Oral Clinical Research I play an active role in carrying out treatment protocols currently being investigated, particularly within the field of minimally invasive non surgical therapy (‘MINST’).”

Dr Hiten Halai

“I have completed both my BDS and Doctorate of Clinical Periodontology at Queen Mary, University of London and am a GDC registered specialist in Periodontics. During my training I have won multiple awards including the British Society of Periodontology (BSP) Audit Award, BSP Clinical Fellowship Award, Queen Mary Postgraduate Research Award and have been recognised for my contribution to clinical periodontology through a certificate of commendation through the Alpha Omega Dental Society (UK) in 2018. I have also presented my clinical and doctorate research work nationally and internationally and have articles published in peer-reviewed journals.

I have been involved in dental education and mentorship since 2014 and have supervised undergraduate students, dental foundation trainees and postgraduates in Periodontology. Currently I work as a part-time clinical supervisor at King’s College, London where I am also completing my fellowship in Higher Education. I spend the rest of my time accepting periodontology referrals mainly at specialist referrals centres in Harley Street and Windsor.”
